Masked “blackshirts” will NEVER speak for Britain
| 📍 WHERE: Taylor House Immigration Court, 88 Rosebery Ave, London EC1R 4QU 📅 WHEN: Tuesday, 3 November ⏰ TIME: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM ✊ ORGANISED BY: Global Women Against Deportations, All African Women’s Group and Action Against Detention & Deportation Politicians and the media have whipped up hatred against asylum seekers and migrants. on Saturday 5 September, hundreds of well-organised, masked, black-shirted men closed down the Port of Dover — a major part of the UK’s infrastructure — for several hours. Then hundreds more demonstrated in Portsmouth. The police pretending to be surprised, did nothing to stop them. Some women in our group have experienced attacks by racist mobs while living in hotels. Those thugs pretend they are protecting women and children, but they terrorise us. We know this isn’t how most people feel, because 100,000s of people around the country are supporting asylum seekers and refugees. Why doesn’t the press put that in its headlines? We also know that when we speak as women about what we have suffered and why we had to escape, people listen and empathise. These fascist thugs get coverage because the government is thinking along the same lines — whipping up hatred against asylum seekers and migrants while bringing in brutal new laws: temporary refugee status; cuts to support that will force people into destitution; separating mothers from their children; restricting appeals; removing legally qualified judges from decision-making; denying people a fair hearing; and creating more detention camps for children and families. We won’t give up. We have a right to be here. They tell us to go back, but our home countries in Africa have been devastated by theft, plunder and the rape of people and the land over centuries. The wealth here is ours, too, and we come together with working-class people to claim it. What is done to asylum seekers today is done to everyone tomorrow. Look at ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) in the US where government thugs are kidnapping and shooting mothers, even citizens like Renee Good, with impunity, it must never happen here. But the millions mobilising worldwide against genocide, war, occupation, climate breakdown and other atrocities that force people to flee their homes, are determined to survive and fight – every life is of value and we will defend it. |
