All African Women’s Group is a self-help group of women asylum seekers from all over the world who have fled war, starvation and the climate crisis. Many of us are survivors of rape and most of us are mothers, some separated from our children. Some of us are lesbian and bi and some have been locked up in detention centres.
We are part of Global Women Against Deportations and work in partnership with Women Against Rape in their Refuge from Rape and Destitution project.
We work collectively to understand and strengthen our legal cases and provide practical help, particularly to women in detention. Our campaigns include fighting for mothers to be reunited with their children, to end destitution and detention, and for housing, healthcare, and other survival resources.
